Does converting to PNG restore detail that JPG lost?
No. Information already discarded by JPEG compression cannot be recovered; PNG simply prevents any further loss from this point on.
Will the PNG be larger than the JPG?
Usually yes, because lossless storage keeps more data. Expect a noticeably bigger file, especially for photographs.
Is EXIF data kept in the PNG?
PNG output does not carry camera EXIF. If you need to preserve or edit shooting information, convert between JPG files instead.
